New Art Piece: Serenade in Blue

30 x 40

Painting can seem like music? Since I can't sing a note myself, I hope my paintings can sing for me. This is a case of "The pictures don't do it justice." I wish you could see this painting to see what I am mean; If this one isn't singing, it surely is humming loudly.

New Art Piece: Pots from Tuscany, Italy

36 x 48

Now I am back in my comfort zone with all the reds. I have a collection of hand-painted Droll pottery and here you have a small black pitcher made by this wonderfully creative line.

New (Favorite) Art Piece

36 x 40

I loved this setup in my studio. I moved a few things around and painted it from a different view point. There is something musical and almost magical in all the blues on display.
I remember going to a museum in Paris and seeing Monet's large panels of Waterlilies. I recall that there seemed to be a soft blue haze that settled not only over them, but over me as well. I felt like I needed to dust off the mist when I left museum that day. It was an incredible feeling for me, like a little kid at Disney world.
On another trip to France, I received special permission to go into his gardens in Giverny on  a day when they were closed to the public. Only the gardeners and I were present. I had my pochade easel and had planned to paint. I was so overwhelmed with the time and place that I could only walk around and take photos for later. All I could produce was a few small sketches.

New Art Piece: Tribute to Van Gogh

30 x 40

This is one of my favorite new pieces. I think the complimentary colors straight from the color wheel brought it to life for me. I manage to keep a small color wheel diagram on my easel and use it as a roadmap through the wilderness of color to great paintings like this. I suggest that all aspiring painters use one in the same way.

New Art Piece: White Tulips with a Side of Agapanthas

30 x 36 Canvas Piece

Lately I have been struggling to work with whites and lighter colors. I'm also trying to keep backgrounds in the neutral ranges. If you can help me on this painting journey, let me know in person or in the comments below.

Update on my Painting

48 x 72

Piece: Poppies with Sunflowers in Tuscan Pots (Hard Days Night)

This painting will announce my association with Paul Robinson, Incorporated, of Atlanta, Marietta, and High Point. This thing will be shown at October Furniture Market in High Point, North Carolina. I need to get finished with 20 pieces... to date I have completed 17.
I did this large piece hoping it would be seen by all. It may not be my best - maybe my biggest.
At any rate, I don't think you will miss seeing it. I will post the results of my show when I return.

New Art Piece: Sunflowers with Blue Delphiniums

30 x 30 Gallery Wrap

I found this white clay pot in a local junk store. It seemed to have my name on it- I had to paint it, at least until I tried to paint it. Why is it that some things are never easy?

New Art Piece: Whispers of the Agapanthas

Size: 16 x 20

I particularly love the sparkle and purity of these wonderful colors, so much that I may just write myself a check and keep it myself! Tomorrow I may feel differently, but today- I love this painting.

New Art Piece: Red Geraniums in a Black Vase

20 x 24 Framed

One of favorite setups, this uses a lovely Droll pitcher from my friend Stanley Sistrunk, from The Flower Store, in Auburn, Alabama. How I often wish that I could just go in that shop every day to see what Mary and Stanley have in their coolers. That pitcher will be seen again and again in my paintings.
