There is something musical and almost magical in all the blues on display.

I remember going to a museum in Paris and seeing Monet's large panels of Waterlilies. I recall that there seemed to be a soft blue haze that settled not only over them, but over me as well. I felt like I needed to dust off the mist when I left museum that day. It was an incredible feeling for me, like a little kid at Disney world.

On another trip to France, I received special permission to go into his gardens in Giverny on a day when they were closed to the public. Only the gardeners and I were present. I had my pochade easel and had planned to paint. I was so overwhelmed with the time and place that I could only walk around and take photos for later. All I could produce was a few small sketches.
Joann Williams Walkerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03765793993008609485noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2250028091606064568.post-72559264276920679122011-10-14T12:14:00.000-07:002011-11-25T12:21:03.774-08:00New Art Piece: Tribute to Van Gogh

This painting will announce my association with Paul Robinson, Incorporated, of Atlanta, Marietta, and High Point. This thing will be shown at October Furniture Market in High Point, North Carolina. I need to get finished with 20 pieces... to date I have completed 17.
I did this large piece hoping it would be seen by all. It may not be my best - maybe my biggest.
At any rate, I don't think you will miss seeing it. I will post the results of my show when I return.Joann Williams Walkerhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/03765793993008609485noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2250028091606064568.post-14329929533833263782011-09-24T10:01:00.000-07:002011-11-25T12:10:05.827-08:00New Art Piece: Sunflowers with Blue Delphiniums

Here is a bio a friend of mine made for me.
Her plein air presentations and her still lifes transform ordinary images into exuberant reflections of color and light.

The vibrant color of her work reflects her passion for life. Her subject matter is taken from her travels to the mountains of Colorado, New Mexico and North Carolina and to the beaches of coastal California, Florida, Georgia, France and Italy.

Over the years, her brushwork has become more confident and self-assured which has resulted in freer and stronger compositions. Her still life compositions are haphazardly yet perfectly arranged.

Jo Ann has been involved in art since the 70’s – working with Winsor & Newton, London, England; Binney and Smith, NJ and Fredrix Canvas, Lawrenceville, GA. She assisted in the design of artists’ brushes for Robert Simmons, NYC and FM Brushes,
Secaucus, NJ. She gives credit to her many mentors along the way and is appreciative of their influence in her life.

In her work she reveals her personal philosophy that what often is viewed as merely ordinary in life and nature is actually quite extraordinary.
